Seriously, what are you eating?!

How often do you take a serious look at what you are eating? Honestly?

I’m not talking about spicing things up and making your food look better, and I’m not talking about trying a new recipe so that the same things taste a little different to you. I mean really, when was the last time you took an honest look at what you eat and asked yourself whether or not it made you feel good?

It’s probably been a long time, if you have even ever asked.

Don’t feel bad if you haven’t because most of us don’t. No one tells us when we are young that when we grow up and fend for ourselves that we should keep an eye on the foods that we eat and how they make us feel.

I mean, we know how food makes us feel, right?

Well often times we don’t.

Sure we know if we have an allergy, usually, and we will occasionally know not to eat something if we had a reaction to it that was so severe we can never forget. But how much do we really know about the way our bodies are reacting to the foods that we eat?

I have studied this very thing for quite some time and I can tell you first-hand that it takes some work to find out exactly what your body doesn’t like and what helps your body thrive.

I’ve done quite a few elimination diets and there are even things that I totally missed the signs of. As well, nutrient makeup of all foods is unique and complex.

Bio-individuality is always at play and just because your family thrives from the dinner that you make doesn’t mean that you do. And vice versa, of course.

I am constantly adjusting what I eat because I know that the only way for me to know when I truly feel well when I eat is for me to eliminate the things that hold my body back.

We all have a few things that just don’t sit right with us. And trust me, I used to be the first one to say that I can eat anything! But I will gladly admit that I was totally wrong!

I am fortunate to not have allergies, yes, but there are certain foods that, when eaten, make me feel like a slug.

Want to know what I’ve eliminated after my research on me? Since my elimination diets and finding my sweet spot, I do not eat or drink:

• Gluten (learn more about going Gluten-free)
• Dairy
• Eggs
• White potatoes
• Eggplant
• Peppers
• Soy
• Peanuts
• Corn
• Refined sugars

And this list could very well expand.

Oftentimes, when I tell people about my exclusions, they think I am missing out or that my diet is limited. I assure you, that is not the case at all!

I have an expensive diet actually, and I eat a larger variety of foods than most people I know. I know what not to eat so that I am always feeling my best!

Do I miss those Foods at all? I really don’t. And I’m not just saying that. As much as I previously loved cheese, I love how my body feels now so much more!
